Providence Equity Partners, one of the world’s leading private equity companies specializing in media and technology, entrusted Priority PR with a major initiative for its all-important annual investor meeting in October of 2009.
Breaking the tradition of relying on the tried and true power point presentations, Priority embarked on a special mission for Providence Equity to inject sizzle into the company’s annual meeting by producing a series of financial videos.
But fear not. Priority flexed its marketing muscle and matched it with its brain power of the business world and the results were anything but dull! We approached each video as if we were producing a cross between a film trailer and a segment of ABC’s “20-20.”
The creative brief consisted of highlighting 11 of Providence Equity’s best performing portfolio companies from various business sectors including Education, Technology, Information Services, Media and Telecom. Priority worked closely with the Providence deal team members and the CEO’s at Education Management Corporation, Archipelago Learning, Assessment Technology Institute (ATI), Idea Cellular, USIS/Altegrity, Hulu, NEWAsurion, KDG, Digiturk, TDC and Ironman.
For this assignment, Priority traveled the world, organizing over 15 location shoots in such cities as Mumbai, Istanbul, London, New York, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Milwaukee, Providence, Tampa, Copenhagen and Munich.
Do you want to talk about a global footprint? Priority literally had the world covered during one of the shoot days. We had a producer and crew in North America tt(Pittsburgh), Europe (Istanbul) and Asia (Mumbai) all on the same day.
Sorry to say there are no wild stories to share with you from the countless miles we logged for Providence Equity. There were a few missed flights, plenty of points logged at Holiday Inn Express, and a couple of mustard-stained shirts. But for the most part, the project was smooth sailing as we went on to produce over 40 minutes of original video for Providence Equity.
Providence was so impressed with the quality of the work that the private equity company also selected Priority to produce a special commemorative video on the company’s 20th Anniversary. Priority worked closely with the Providence Founders Jonathan Nelson, Glenn Creamer and Paul Salem on the project and interviewed industry media titan Haim Saban and the Chairman of Harley Davidson Motorcycles Barry K. Allen for the project as the video kicked off the opening dinner of the investor meeting.
Not only was this a valuable experience for the Priority company, but many on our staff members were able to improve their financial lingo as they were exposed to such terms as EBITDA, RGU’s and CAGR.
As any financial whiz knows, that’s Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization (EBITDA), Revenue Generating Units (RGU’s) and Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR).
